Days to Our Return Home

A Day On The Train

And that's pretty much been our experience for what seems to be the entire day.  Everything ran like clockwork of course but no matter how smooth it's still like a day of manual labor.  We had 6 train connections today with the first connection being in Milan.  Our layover between trains was a comfortable 1+ hours.  As the connections progressed our layovers decreased until finally we were down to about 5 minutes at the very end.  But the herd worked together efficiently and here we are sitting in our hotel which is perched on a ledge high up in the Swiss Alps.  The view is amazing and weather predictions for tomorrow (our big mountain top trip to the Top Of Europe) are fairly good - I'll take that ANY day over straight rain.

Our dinner reservations tonight were at the Staeger Stubli in the middle of tiny little Murren.  They welcomed us VERY friendly - all three CAK Europe Groups have come here for at least 1 dinner.  Tonight's group was quickly acclimated to the stunning prices of Swiss restaurant food!

Horse Steak is on the menu here and like every CAK Student Group who has eaten here at least 1 from each group has to eat horse.  We had several tonight, and they liked it very much.  Our drinks consisted of tap water (Swiss Tap water is the best in the world) and Coke Light (Diet Coke).  Some of us had the least expensive Coke Light at 3.30 Chf each (no free refills)...

And some of us paid 12 Chf for our Coke...
It currently takes about 1.05 US Dollars to buy 1 Chf (Swiss Franc).  That's a pretty expensive Coke if you ask me :-)  All the food was excellent:

Afterwards we packed up and headed out and one of the boys said "I was hungry enough to eat a horse tonight!" - and that's exactly what he did.

Tomorrow is our BIG BIG journey to the highest train station in all of Europe at the Jungfrau.  We'll travel up and up and up till you think we just can't go up any higher - and then we go higher.  HIGH above the tree line HIGH up where the snow never melts.  I hope we have some good weather because I'm excited for the kids to see the beauty of God's creation here.  I think it is safe to say we will ALL sleep soundly tonight under our comfy duvets.  I don't know the current temperature for sure, but I think it feels somewhere in the upper 40s right now.  Brrrrr - what a change from Venice!

Good night from Murren.

  2. Oh I know the kids will love it! The Jungfrau is always my favorite place in all of Switzerland! Tell them to dress warmly since the temp drops to below freezing! Love you and miss you!
